About Bangkok Ariston Hotel

This time, it’s a stay journal at a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Bangkok, Thailand, offers a diverse range of hotel options.

Choosing a hotel can be overwhelming, as it’s not always easy to gauge the actual room information on reservation websites.

I hope this article serves as a helpful reference for everyone’s hotel selection.

The hotel I stayed at this time is the following:

  • Hotel Name: Ariston Hotel
  • Room Type: Superior Double Room
  • Nearest Station: BTS Phrom Phong
  • Duration of Stay: Three nights *consecutive nights in the same room
  • Reservation Site: Agoda
  • Rate (at the time of the author’s stay): Approximately $44.6 per night *includes breakfast

In conclusion, there wasn’t any exceptional experience, but it’s a cost-effective “Thai-style Japanese business hotel.”

That’s how I personally felt.

Whether I would stay again depends on the purpose of the trip and the price – if they align, a return stay is definitely on the table!

Location: From the airport to Phrom Phong Station and then to Ariston Hotel

This time, we arrived at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

Using the Airport Link and BTS, we headed to Ariston Hotel’s nearest station, BTS Phrom Phong.

If you don’t get lost, it’s about a 10-minute walk from Phrom Phong Station.

Choosing Phrom Phong as the nearest station was advantageous for me, as it’s convenient for getting anywhere.

This area has been popular among Japanese visitors for some time.

The exotic atmosphere might have diminished, and opinions may vary depending on the purpose of the visit.

I walked from the nearby Phrom Phong Station to the hotel.

Exiting Phrom Phong Station, I passed in front of the famous Naraya and entered Sukhumvit 24 Alley.

After that, it’s basically a straight road, not too challenging, but the streets are typical Bangkok quality.

Although it looks close on the map, pulling a suitcase along the Bangkok-quality road for a little over 10 minutes can be quite stressful, especially considering the high temperatures.

Fortunately, it didn’t rain, but the heat was uncomfortable.

Of course, that’s Bangkok for you.

If you’re concerned, taking a taxi directly from the airport might be a better option.

The distance to Phrom Phong Station wasn’t bothersome, especially if you don’t have large travel bags.

For me personally, it wasn’t as “conveniently close to the station” as I expected.

However, being a bit away from the main road where the BTS runs meant we spent our stay without the inconvenience of noise, relatively enjoying a quiet atmosphere.

It depends on the hotel’s structure and the floor of the room (in this case, the 5th floor), but Bangkok remains a city that never sleeps.

The closer you get to the city center, the higher the noise risk, so being able to stay calmly and quietly is a significant personal advantage.

Along the way, there are many other hotels and restaurants, and the area is bustling, so I didn’t feel any danger, even at night. This aspect is also a good point.

Entrance to Lobby

The surroundings of the entrance, including the exterior, had an atmosphere of renovation.

It felt clean and comfortable.

Immediately, a friendly staff member approached, engaging in a casual conversation and offering to carry our luggage.

It’s a common layout overseas, but with the hotel lobby on the second floor, upon entering the entrance, you take the elevator directly to the second floor.

There are two elevators, and there was no need to wait during our stay.

The structure of the second-floor lobby is simple, with the front desk straight ahead.

The space is open and quiet, featuring a spacious atmosphere.

We identified the breakfast area, various lounge spaces, the bar counter, and restrooms.

The check-in process was consistently friendly and accompanied by smiles.

There was a moment I almost forgot to retrieve my passport, but it was safely returned.

With a perfect smile, the check-in was successfully completed.

The room key is card-type.

To reach the guest room floor, you take the elevator located immediately to the right of the front desk, and the layout is simple and easy to navigate.

The elevator operates without a touch-style system for the room key; it can access any floor without specific key requirements.

Rooms

客室

The impression is of a spacious “Thai-style Japanese business hotel.”

The interior of the room was simple.

The high ceilings and low beds contributed to a sense of spaciousness in the room.

The overall ambiance also conveyed a sense of cleanliness.

客室扉

The door has a peephole, but there were no chain or U-shaped locks.

クローゼット

Upon entering the room, there is an immediate hanging rack space.

It is sufficient for a solo stay, but for consecutive nights with two or more people, there might be a slight shortage of hangers.

コントロール機器
エアコン

I felt a sense of history in each control facility.

The method of turning on the room’s power by inserting the room key.

The control panel for each light had Japanese labeling, indicating a design with Japanese guests in mind.

The air conditioning control functioned properly, but it was so powerful that I opted to keep it on the Low setting during my stay.

It was convenient to be able to adjust the airflow in three stages.

バスタブ
シャワー

The bathroom area also had a somewhat historical feel.

The impression is reminiscent of an old Japanese business hotel.

The shower with a bathtub was fixed in place.

The bath and toilet are in the same space, separated by a shower curtain.

There were two sets each of rinse-in shampoo, shower gel, solid soap, bath mat, face towel, and bath towel.

The experience with the bathroom facilities can vary widely from person to person, but for me, it was within an acceptable range.

There is no provision for nightwear-related items like bathrobes, so it’s necessary to bring your own.

Also, the toilet is of the international style, and you cannot flush toilet paper directly.

Please be aware that it uses an external bidet system.

Every time I encounter this type of toilet, I appreciate the comfort of the Japanese-style toilets.

デスク

Furthermore, the room is equipped with a sturdy desk, and power outlets are readily available.

The chairs are office chair-style, making activities such as computer work quite comfortable.

Free Wi-Fi is also available throughout the hotel.

冷蔵庫
水

A small-sized refrigerator is also provided, and it came stocked with two bottled waters.

These waters were complimentary, and they were replaced daily throughout my consecutive stays.

Having a sip of the “Chang” water enhances the feeling of being in Thailand.

During my three-night stay this time, the room was cleaned daily.

It’s always a pleasure to return to a clean bed and bathroom after being out.

Of course, if you hang the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the doorknob, they will refrain from entering the room.

Breakfast

This time, I also had breakfast.

The breakfast venue is located on the second floor.

When I visited, it was served during the morning hours from 5:30 to 10:00.

It’s convenient that they open early in the morning.

The service is in buffet style.

朝食1
朝食2
朝食3

During my visit, the main offerings for breakfast were Western-style dishes, including vegetables, bread, and fruits.

There were three types of fruits, and the pineapple was particularly delicious.

Unfortunately, there was no mango available.

Although not pictured, there were also Thai dishes, soups, bacon, sausages, and more.

Eggs were cooked on the spot by the chef to your preference.

I tried scrambled eggs and sunny-side-up on different days, and they were delicious.

ジュース
コーヒーマシン

Beverage options included water, fruit juice, and coffee.

However, it wasn’t possible to take the coffee to-go and bring it back to the room.

As an extra note, after breakfast, I took a moment to stop by the pool.

It’s a pool nestled in the midst of the urban area surrounded by hotels.

A few chairs were placed by the poolside, allowing for a relaxed and leisurely time.

アリストンホテルのプール

Near the hotel, there is Benjasiri Park, and I recommend taking a morning stroll there.

※As of October 2023, at the time of the author’s stay.

In conclusion, for travelers who want to enrich their hotel stay, not just focus on sightseeing, there might be some shortcomings.

If you are traveling with family, you might find the hotel itself lacking in activities.

During my actual stay, I hardly saw families, and it seems that the hotel is primarily designed for basic needs like sleeping, showering, and having breakfast.

It caters more to individuals who plan to spend their time sightseeing, shopping, or on business outside.

It gives a distinct impression of a Japanese business hotel.

If the purpose of your trip aligns with this setting, it might be worth checking the prices before traveling.
